3D Garment Design by 3D Fashion Designer, Gwen Hine

3D-Fashion Design

Rates: Project Based

3D virtual design has revolutionized the entire fashion industry, bringing benefits to both designers and manufacturers. With the use of 3D design, fashion companies can both speed up production but do so in a sustainable manner. Other added benefits include, reducing the cost of pattern/sample production, lowering the cost of materials, trims and shipment costs, and reducing the cost of errors in sampling which leads to additional alterations and loss of precious time.

Gwen is experienced using both Browzwear Vstitcher and Clo3D software. This service involves Gwen converting your pattern and developing it as a 3D sample with your specified fabrications and trims, the end product being a realistic, digital design rendering. This allows you to check the garment fit/design and to make corrections before moving forward with production (saving time, money and the environment.)

Concept & Direction

Rates starting at $50/hour

The early stages of design development (Concept & Direction) are crucial. I believe that captivating design starts with a strong foundation and lasting inspiration.

It is important to first understand what goals you are trying to accomplish for your brand. This includes defining your story, mission, target customer and brand morals. From here, we will next decide on design inspiration. What will your collection/brand be rooted from? (Nature, Science, Architecture, Light/Shadows, etc.) At this stage, I will then create mood/inspiration boards that convey the overall feeling and concept of the collection. The mood board will next lead us into deciding on collection color ways, fabrications, trims, etc. Trend research is another important aspect of this stage in design development. Finally, I will research prices, designs, and fabrications/ trims of competitors in the same market as your brand.

A mood board serves as the road map for a designer. We use this compilation of creative information to then begin designing the actual garments.

Technical Flats/Tech packs

Rates starting at $50/Hour

Once all designs are finalized, the next step is to create technical flats and tech packs for each style. A technical flat is a technical drawing of the garment as if it is laid flat, showing important design details such as seams, stitching, zippers, etc. A tech pack is an informative chart that designers use to communicate with a manufacturer all the correct notes to correctly construct the garment.

The complexity of a technical flat and tech pack both depend on the intricacy of the design. A more complicated design with several trims, stitching details, and notions calls for sending more information to the factory.

Tech packs include a technical flat of the garment both in black/white and one in color. These flats clearly showcase all details with construction call outs. Also included in the tech pack is a bill of materials (BOM) and a fully graded spec with point of measurements(POM) sketch for the factory.

Fashion Illustrations

Rates: Project Based

Fashion Illustrations are the visual expression of your design before they are physically created. These finalized sketches help us when designing to better envision the creation before the sample is sent into production.

Gwen hand sketches her illustrations and renders with color or in black and white using Adobe Illustrator. Gwen is happy to work with the client to create the exact style/aesthetic to coincide with their overall collection.
